My iPhone Apps

So as you  know, I’ve gone to the dark side: I now own an iPhone. AT&T, by the way.

And yes, you all were right. It is awesome. The keyboard is easier to use than I had expected. The automatic lock keeps me from pocket dialing. The large screen makes touch screen Web browsing more enjoyable. And what would an iPhone be without the apps?

Here is a list of the apps that I use:

  • Twitter
  • Foursquare
  • Words with friends
  • Rdio
  • Pandora
  • Angry Birds
  • Fishies
  • Bump
  • AIM
  • Shazam
  • Yelp
  • Urbanspoon
  • LyricFind Lite
  • Google Translate

Not as extensive as I thought it would be, but it is a start. There is a few others, but I haven’t had the opportunity or the need to utilize them, e.g., Knocking and Instagram. As of right now, I’d say Twitter (News), Foursquare (Social networking), Rdio (Music) and Yelp (Recommendations) are the apps that I use the most, closely followed by Angry Birds and Words with friends (Games). I plan to purchase the AP Stylebook (Work) this week. Yay!

Apps are definitely one of the ways that you can customize your phone. I find it interesting to see what apps people have, use and leave sitting there unused. According to website mobiThinking, 1 in 4 apps are downloaded once and never used again. Maybe the apps are there just to look cool and hip? I’d do it.

The other way is to customize it with a colorful and “unique” case. I’m rocking a purple one right now, but a multicolored, musically inspired design will soon be protecting my new toy. Like this one on

Downloading apps is something I’m going to be doing a lot now, so if you have any recommendations, please let me know. I will try to review a few on here for you.

About mmmiller05

If Marcia Miller had to pick up everything and leave, then she'd make sure to grab a few things before she left. First, the duffel bag is a must, followed by her laptop and iPod. She grabs her journal next, along with every CD she owns - just in case. Miller pulls off the pictures and concert tickets that adorn her walls. A towel is going to be handy too - this she learned from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Finally, she grabs a handful of pens and her trusty AP Stylebook, throws her duffel back over her back and picks up her purse. Closing the door behind her, she leaves her apartment, heads down the stairs and... Well, Miller heads to your office because she's ready to do a job. She is ready to move at a moment's notice, write what needs to be written, edit what needs to be edited, promote what you think the world needs to know about. Miller's got the personality, the skills and the spunk to succeed in any situation. She's not afraid of trying new things or getting her feet wet. Her moto: If an opportunity doesn't present itself, then create one.
